About
Category:A arts, culture and humanities nonprofit specializing in performing arts organizations.
Mission Statement: Christian youth theater develops character and creativity in kids of all ages through quality theater arts training that brings families and communities together. cyt is an after school theater arts program for students ages 4-8. each yearly calendar is made up of 4 ten week sessions that involve classes in theater arts and the opportunity to participate in broadway style musicals.
Here are some of the key programs we worked on last year:
- Program 1: Cyt shows are appropriate for the entire family and are an excellent way to introduce children to the arts. depending on age and ability, students and siblings can participate on the backstage crew, technical team or the costume and make-up team, if they are not a member of the cast. we were able to see an increase in programming this year with the reduction in covid restrictions. we were able to increase the number of performances and shows and serve our population. during 4 shows we had total cast members of 233 and in-person audiences of 7,900. due to increase in in-person audience streaming rights were eliminated.
- Program 2: Classes are offered over the course of three sessions fall, winter ,spring. weekly classes last for two hours and run for ten consecutive weeks. a variety of classes are offered in drama, voice, dance and specialty classes. most of the classes are small to ensure personal attention and growth. at the end of a cyt session, students come away with improved skills in the area of emphasis. during the fiscal year we served over 426 students and were able to grant 30 scholarships.
- Program 3: Cyt has summer offerings for students ages 5-18. camps are designed to be fun and energetic immersion into the world of musical theater. camps are jam-packed with games, activities and interactive workshops that build performance skills, self-confidence and teamwork. we were able to serve 177 campers. we received many anecdotal reports that this was the best part of the summer and their children grew in skill and confidence.
